Born in Jeju, Korea in 1965, Kang served as chairman of the Jeju Association of Ethnic Arts Groups, and as a standing co-representative of the Jeju 4.3 70th Anniversary Project Committee. He has authored “the Story of Stones of the Volcanic Island (2000),” “Halla Mountain (2003), “The Story of Halla Mountain (2016),” “Beyond the Beauty of Jeju (2020)”, “Poknang, the Hackberry (2020)” etc.
