“Transition” is a series of roadside scenery on the way from my home by birth, Fenglin, and my home by marriage, Puli, after my wife and I decided to settle down back home. The work consists of fragmented illustrations of the Central Cross-Island Highway. My home by marriage is the destination of my travel, as well as a new starting point in my life. The inevitable trips between my two homes have set me on this winding mountainous highway, with its every-changing scenery always the same and different. The drive is long and meandering. Going home to me means the beginning of a journey. The view outside the car window is dictated by the gas pedal under my foot and the steering wheel in my hands. All that happens between the departures and the arrivals are nothing more than a transition, warranting only a glance before life moves on.
