Illusions, some people say that life is all just an illusion. When we die, it’ll just be like a burning flame. The ashes would be our memories, broken in pieces and until the it becomes unseen dust.
An average life span is about time of 79 years. Before I was born, there as a moment when the whole planet was burning. Wished to draw an accurate form of a pine tree, swaying with the pattern of pain and joy. We then continue to build the events from there. Human kind passed down civilization and violence. What interested me is how these two different endless timelines effects our youth. Lingering in the influence of sexuality of fate, framing events of hundreds of years and those before and after.
Why do we keep on drawing images?
Maybe we are trying to leave a mark of those people that fill in the gaps of time in our life. Trying ambitiously to conquer the unknown future. All those parables that causes the end of life so hesitant. Our flesh, we play with life’s different needs. For some reason the portrait is burning, with its tropical colors it is set up as a disgusting molding atmosphere. Humans have the ability to create images, but also feel so drained from it. Angry humans break and destroy. Sad humans haunt and lingers. Fire is an illusion, it’s a process from pain to enjoying life, it becomes an image that takes away all their delirium.
The motive for this exhibition comes from 1930 Taiwanese and Japanese painting. It was an important era for the devilment of Taiwanese art. Paintings from that time were filled with authentic cultural colors, praising for the imaginary future. The styles were diverse and new. The most interesting part of these paintings are the expression of battles, portraits of woman and the modernize scenery. I hope that with my paintings and expressions I am able to show it in different symbols. And also allow the possibility for the violence and desires from the flesh to intertwined together.
